This year cintelliq is offering two optional workshop sessions on Monday 26 September.
The workshops are designed to provide attendees with a broad understanding of the emerging organic semiconductor industry.
The workshops will cover four key areas:
- Technology
- Commercial
- Roadmaps
- Patents
The workshops will appeal to senior technical and senior commercial staff, especially those who are expected to develop a broader understanding of the industry beyond their current technical or commercial experience. In particular the workshops will be highly relevant to:
- Individuals new to the industry
- Individuals who already have technical experience in the industry but wish to develop a greater appreciation of
other technical aspects, or of the commercial aspects of the industry
- Individuals who already have commercial experience in the industry but wish to develop a greater appreciation of
other commercial aspects, or of the technical aspects of the industry
Monday 26 September Workshop 1: Organic semiconductor technology and industry review
The aim of Workshop 1 is to provide attendees with an introduction to the technology and commercial aspects of the emerging organic semiconductor industry.
The first part of the workshop will give attendees an introduction to organic semiconductor materials and devices and their principles of operation. The second part will present attendees with an overview of key companies, commercial activities, product and technology commercialisation and anticipated market sizes.

Introduction to Organic semiconductor technology
Attendees will be given an introduction to:
- Organic semiconductor materials: small molecules, polymers and dendrimers, along with fundamental optoelectronic properties of these materials in terms of charge transport, light emission and absorption
- Organic semiconductor devices: operating principles of OLEDs, FETs, PVs, sensors and memory devices, including typical device structures and materials. State of the art performance. Main applications. Key remaining technical challenges
- Organic semiconductor device fabrication: - vacuum deposition and solution processing techniques; requirements for encapsulation; the uses of flexible substrates and roll-to-roll processing.
The session will conclude with a summary of the advantages and opportunities offered by this new technology.

Monday 26 September Workshop 2: Technology roadmapping and patent analysis
Workshop 2 aims to provide attendees with a broad overview of how organic semiconductor technology and products will evolve in the short to medium term.
This will be followed by an overview of organic semiconductor patents filed over the past two years and analysing patents for commercial insight. |

Developing technology roadmaps
Technology and product road-mapping is an essential tool for building a 'shared' view of industry development. This session aims to review road-mapping approaches, and put into context the merits of their use. Industry data gathered over the course of the past two years will be used as sample data to construct 'exploratory' technology and product roadmaps for the organic semiconductor industry. Key insights will be discussed and possible next steps suggested for developing ongoing roadmaps for the organic semiconductor industry.
