| Industry pioneers recognised with Organic Semiconductor Industry Awards | |

The winners of the inaugural Organic Semiconductor Industry Awards were announced on 26 September at the Organic Electronics Conference (OEC-06) Gala Dinner, in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Organic Semiconductor Industry Awards (OSIA), sponsored by cintelliq and in association with OSA Direct, are open to all organisations operating in the organic semiconductor and organic electronics industry. The 2006 awards were presented by Craig Cruickshank, CEO of cintelliq and chairman of the awards panel, at the OEC-06 Gala Dinner in Frankfurt, 26 September 2006. Craig Cruickshank said, "The overall quality of this year's award nominations made selecting the final winners a difficult task." He added, "The companies receiving these awards are leading the development of organic semiconductor technology, they are true pioneers helping to set the foundations that will enable a whole range of new and exciting applications based on organic electronics." The winners, selected by the independent panel of judges, were as follows: Research & Development AwardWinners: Iain McCulloch and Martin Heeney, Merck KGaA, for the design and synthesis of a new class of high performance organic semiconductors polymers. The judges considered that the research of McCulloch and Heeney stood out from the other, often very strong entrants in this category, because:
