One-click access to patent documents a big hit with patent analysts With the number of patents relating to organic semiconductor technologies increasing steadily year on year, the task of monitoring and analysing the patenting activities of competitors and partners is becoming more time consuming and costly. In response to this problem cintelliq, the organic semiconductor industry specialist, has released an enhanced version of its OSC Patent Data tool-kit. In 2004 cintelliq identified 5,101 published and granted patents relating to organic semiconductor technologies (which encompass the field of flexible, printed and organic electronics), in 2005 it identified 5,926 patents, and it predicts that the number of relevant patents for the full year of 2006 will be over 6,200. OSC Patent Data greatly simplifies patent research and analysis and is currently available in datasets covering 2004, 2005 and 2006. Each set of OSC Patent Data covers six months of granted and published patents and is provided in Excel format as charts, spreadsheets and pivot tables. Up to 3,000 patents are included in each set of data, every one already classified by technology area (OLEDs, transistors, PV, encapsulation, deposition systems, materials, etc). Patent numbers are linked to a full online description of each patent on the EPO website (espacenet) or Google Patents Pivot tables allow easy analysis and comparison by any of the 28 data fields A sample dataset, containing full data for 500 patents from 2005, is available for download from the cintelliq website so that potential users can experiment with OSC Patent Data before purchasing. As well as the introduction of filters and pivot tables which make running customised analysis of the data much quicker, the latest version of OSC Patent Data also includes a live link from each patent to its full patent description.
