Workshops and training
cintelliq runs a number of workshops on the organic semiconductor industry, covering technical and commercial issues, as well as technology roadmapping and patent analysis. cintelliq runs the workshops at conferences and for special interest groups and individual clients.

These standard workshops are fully customisable both in duration and focus, depending upon the requirements of the client or target audience.

The four standard workshops are outlined below:

Workshop 1: Introduction to organic semiconductor technology

Attendees will be given an introduction to:
  • Organic semiconductor materials: small molecules, polymers and dendrimers, along with fundamental optoelectronic properties of these materials in terms of charge transport, light emission and absorption
  • Organic semiconductor devices: operating principles of OLEDs, FETs, PVs, sensors and memory devices, including typical device structures and materials. State of the art performance. Main applications. Key remaining technical challenges
  • Organic semiconductor device fabrication: - vacuum deposition and solution processing techniques; requirements for encapsulation; the uses of flexible substrates and roll-to-roll processing.
The session will conclude with a summary of the advantages and opportunities offered by this new technology.
Workshop 2: Introduction to the organic semiconductor industry

Attendees will be presented with an overview of:
  • key companies
  • commercial activities
  • funding and investments
  • mergers and acquisitions
  • product and technology commercialisation
The short- to medium-term commercialisation of the technology will be considered along with the anticipated market demand of the emerging organic semiconductor industry.
Workshop 3: Developing technology roadmaps

Technology and product road-mapping is an essential tool for building a 'shared' view of industry development. This session aims to review road-mapping approaches, and put into context the merits of their use.

Industry data gathered over the course of the past two years will be used as sample data to construct 'exploratory' technology and product roadmaps for the organic semiconductor industry. Key insights will be discussed and possible next steps suggested for developing ongoing roadmaps for the organic semiconductor industry.
Workshop 4: Patent analysis for technical and commercial insight

This session will review a number of quantitative and qualitative techniques for analysing patents, and comment on their merits.

Examples of recent work on patent analysis by cintelliq will be shown. Key findings as well as insight obtained will be discussed.
